The short version: Your files never leave your Mac. Found It! searches everything locally. We only collect your email to create your account and your payment info is handled entirely by Stripe — we never see it.
What we collect
We collect the minimum necessary to run the service:
- Email address — to create and manage your Found It! account (via Supabase Auth).
- Payment information — processed and stored entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
- Subscription status — whether you're on the Free or Pro plan, so we can unlock the right features.
What we do NOT collect
- Your file names, file contents, or file metadata
- Your search queries
- Any data from your local file index — it lives entirely on your Mac in a local SQLite database
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Your IP address or location
Found It! processes everything on-device. Nothing from your file system is ever transmitted to our servers or any third party.
How we use what we collect
- Your email is used to authenticate you and send transactional emails (e.g., receipts, billing issues). We do not send marketing emails unless you opt in.
- Your subscription status is checked on launch to determine feature access.
Third-party services
No other third parties have access to your account data.
Data retention and deletion
Your account data is retained as long as your account is active. To delete your account and all associated data, email hello@founditapp.com with subject "Delete my account" and we'll process it within 5 business days.
Security
Account data is stored in Supabase with row-level security. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Your local file index is stored in a sandboxed SQLite database on your Mac and is never transmitted anywhere.
Children
Found It! is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you via email.
